Join us for our second PTA meeting of the year! We will be meeting at Bank Sq. Coffeehouse for a meeting and leave plenty of time for socializing. This is a great way to get to know other parents/family members at South Ave!
At this meeting we’ll be planning for our October 26th Trunk or Treat, Holiday Shoppe, and November 30th Book Fair/Family Fun Night.
In case you didn’t receive the Hudson Valley Seed September Newsletter, please continue reading or download the PDF.
Welcome back to school! Hope you enjoyed the summer as much we did.
We’ve worked hard to keep the gardens growing with the help of many volunteers.
Much gratitude to those of you who watered your school garden over the summer!
We also had the pleasure of working with Beacon’s Green Teen next step interns, Kindu and Isabela. We’ve all been busy weeding, planting, and harvesting. Much of the produce was donated to St. Andrew’s food pantry and served in healthy snacks made with Beacon Recreation campers and participants in the free meals program at the Newburgh Library.

South Avenue Elementary is participating in the Spirit of Beacon Day Parade happening this Sunday, September 30, 2018. This year’s Spirit of Beacon Day Parade theme is “Celebrating Unity”.
Please join us – children and their families are encouraged to march with South Avenue!
Where to meet: Our group will meet at 12:15 on Wolcott Ave (9D) near Rombout Ave. Look for our banner and colors! We usually get an exact meeting spot assigned that morning so check Facebook for updates. The parade starts at 1pm and runs the length of Main St. If you miss the beginning feel free to join us at any point in the parade.
What to wear: Your South Ave t-shirts! Or you can wear blue and/or yellow to match our school colors. If you’re on a sports team or Girl/Boy Scouts and want to wear a uniform that is welcome too!
What to bring: Water for your whole family, snacks, and wagons/strollers if you have little ones. Don’t forget to wear sunblock, bring hats/sunglasses if it’s a hot day.

Join us on the school playground right after dismissal for the first PTA meeting of the year! Dads, moms, step-parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, adult babysitters – please come get involved! You don’t have to volunteer (although we’d love it if you can!) – at the very least just come learn about what we’re doing for the fall.
